Social History
The Black Plague damaged the economy greatly, after 5 years the plague killed about 25 million people, 1/3 of the population. There were very little workers so livestock and farms were left unattended, war and trade came to a halt and those who did work demanded higher wages. The death toll was between 25-60% of the population, by the end of the plague up to 75-100 million people died. During the plague people prayed to god to spare them, but their prayers went unanswered. Afterwards there was a new period of politics and philosophical questions. The Black Death marked the end of feudalism, which brought drastic change in art and literature.
